How many words per minute does a voice-over speak?

An average speaking rate is roughly 120 to 150 words per minute. Even so, it is not always easy to judge whether a text will fit into 5 seconds, 30 seconds or a minute. Numbers in particular take longer to say than they look. Just think about it: read out in Dutch, the number “1.384.234” takes 19 syllables, while on paper it is about as long as the word “strawberry”.
